Vote for Me!!

September 19, 2007

Heres a Pinhole shot taken during January 2007 in Necropolis Cristóbal Colón. This is Havana Cuba’s ‘City of the Dead’. I’ve already been experimenting with this photo using the Photo Intaglio printmaking process. Here it is straight from the negative.

I’ve uploaded this shot to my new page on JPG Magazine. Here’s the LINK. There’s more of my Pinhole stuff there also.

JPG Magazine allow members to submit a single picture to a given theme. The themes will make up the content of the magazine in its printed format. I’ve uploaded this shot to the Passport Theme (Travel off the Beaten Track). Hopefully it will be selected – but I need votes!!!

Baracoa – Cuba

July 1, 2007

This is proof of a one colour photo intaglio print of a pinhole photograph. Its dimensions are roughly 16.5 inches squared.

It was taken in Baracoa, Cuba in late December 2006.

Baracoa is situated on the east of the Island and was discovered by Admiral Christopher Columbus during his first voyage, on 27th November 1492. It was Cuba’s first capital.

This etching was made in Cork Printmakers and will be part of an exhibition I’m planning in the near future.

One Man’s Struggle . . .

April 13, 2007

The Last Krispie‘ was the follow up to renegade short film-maker Ed Godsell’s seminal ‘The Unbearable‘. This often overlooked gem’s impact possibly suffered because of its predecessors late surge of unprecedented form on the World’s festival circuit. However, it remains a startling piece of work in its own right.

Godsell employs his trademark sense of tension to the medium as the viewer is treated to a tour de force display of concise cinematic magic.

A suitably lanquid Stephen Brennan plays the hapless office prole in perhaps his finest role since ‘The Ass and the Alter‘. Jane Skovgaard’s sumptuous scantily clad cameo as the unfortunate post-lady literally left this writer glued to his cinema seat.

This piece thrilled fans on release but has not yet garnered  the widespread appraisal it so richly deserves.

The poster is a three colour screenprint and is also due re-appraisal.

Necropolis Pinhole Test 1

March 5, 2007

A one colour photo intaglio print.

This is a test print from a project I’m working on at the moment. I took a number of Pinhole Photographs in Cuba during December 2006 and January.

More prints to follow from this series over the next few months.

UPDATE: Cuba Obscura now has its own site!
